The Modern Quilt Guild is hosting a Riley Blake Challenge using the Cottage Garden fabric line. When I first saw the announcement, I signed up and jotted down a design. I finally got my fabric 2 weeks ago and started working…
Maybe more on the traditional side of the spectrum, but I’m loving it so far.

My two favorite Quilt Design a Day (QDAD) designs from April:
This one was immediately added to my “to-make” list.
Compass, 12 April QDAD design
The layers in this one just worked. I love the colors and jagged-ness.
Shark Attack, 16 April QDAD design
My two least successful designs from April:
Minimalism gone wrong. The proportions are way off.
Minimal, 6 April QDAD design
Another one where the proportions are off. I wish I had more time because this is one design I’d like to try to improve.
Branching Out, 18 April QDAD design
Taking photos from my everyday life and finding design inspiration in them. Inspired by my participation in the Quilt Design A Day (QDAD) group on Facebook.
April’s inspiration is this watering hole at one of the playgrounds we frequent.
My first design was inspired by the top of the fountain.
The second design comes from the circle drain. It has kind an Art Deco feel to it.
Third design is a variation of the traditional courthouse steps block. I kept going back and forth as to whether I should square up the block or leave it more rectangular. Still haven’t decided, but I’ll go with this version.
